4. A quick order of magnitude calculation:

Dan Akaroyd: 200lbs -> 5.46*10^29 amu (atomic mass units)

Assuming he's made purely of hydrogen (which will underestimate the energy of the ensuing blast as this has the effect of only including the lowest energy electron in the calculation of the potential energy between the nucleous and the electron)

Each amu corresponds to -13.6 eV of binding energy, if we turn all the protons into antiprotons, this will flip the potental energy to +13.6 eV per amu.

So we have an energy of 7.5*10^29 eV

or 1.2*10^11 Joules

or about 28 tons of TNT

5. Wouldn't the annihilation of every proton release more energy than that?

I'm a little rusty with my matter/anti-matter physics.

It would mostly be gamma radiation, correct?

I suppose when they start interacting with the regular protons in the surroundings, we get some matter/antimatter reactions and then much bigger kablooie!

using the old chestnut E=mc^2, it works out to be about 2.9 TerraTons of TNT for 100 lbs of antiprotons anniliating with 100 lbs of protons (figuring the mass of the body is about half protons and half neutrons...)
