I saw something fly across my classroom today, and to find out who did it, I claimed that I saw a this one kid throw it. I had him pulled out by security and threatened with suspension--and he cracked. He squealed, I let him off the hook, and I told the perpetrator that I would turn in a report if he didn't do every little thing I made him do.

Strange as it was, I didn't feel guilty, even though I knew that this kid was scared. He's a budding criminal, to be sure, but I saw some of his current enemies on next week's suspension roster--which means that he was looking at being locked in a room with some serious gangbangers who have it in for him. The weirdest part about it was that I was almost hoping that he'd stick to his story of total innocence, just so I could make an example of him.

The kid who threw the candy, however, will be my minion now, and I will pluck him like a fiddle.
