This needs to be said. Read 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell
The book is based on Stalin's Soviet Union but can easily apply to any authoritarian government, including the Bush Crime Family. It's a great book - read...

3. Read it over twenty years ago.....
around the same time I read "Lord of the Flies." Another one to read, which I just read a few months ago is "It Can't Happen Here." WOW...got a tear in my eye at the end; my heart goes out to all of the Doremus Jessups in the world.

5. one of my favorite quotes was "all animals are equal"
.
.
.

the REST of the quote was amended during the story with the addition:

"but SOME animals are more equal than others"

or sumthing to that effect

7. Animal Farm Rap
Farmer Jones, he got drunk. And slept all day in his bunk. Which put the Animals in a funk. Underfed, worked till dead. We'll take control of this farmstead. They started into lootin` just to get some food. But the Dude come runnin` out in the nude. Which wasn't so fun, cause he had a gun, but the Animals put him on the run. Animalism was the Charm, and now they had an Animal Farm. All of them equal. All of them free, a great Animal society. But they changed the rules in the middle of the Night, and said "Is That?" "Was that?" "Nah, it must be right." And you know it's sad, and you know it's blue, when some Pig starts thinkin` he's better than you.

12. I should reread it
It's been at least 15 years since I read it I think.

I think Bushco would rather have all the downsized workers read that lovely Social Darwinist fable Who Moved My Cheese?

15. The four legs good bit...
A bit of a spoiler for those who haven't read it yet, so be warned

******************

It's really frightening how the whole 'four legs good, two legs bad' mantra changes so easily to 'four legs good, two legs better!' mantra at the end.

And it could SO happen here. It already is.
