3. Yeah, I like it, I OWN it
Click the link and they tell you

Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington (population 60) surrounded by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter of the town's leader (Hurt), and Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens completely confined to the village.

I didn't want to spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen it, but they have really screwed up here. It's not set in 1897...If you've seen the whole movie, you know this. Also, the girl's name is IVY. There is a Kitty in the movie, but she's not the one with the thing for Lucius.

7. Well, Kitty WANTED a relationship early on in the movie,
Lucius snubbed her if you'll recall.

8. Yes, but they describe it as
"the romance that blossoms" between them.

I don't think the person that wrote this really watched the movie.

14. good for them...wish *I* hadn't watched it myself
Not only was it stupefyingly boring, but I used to think William Hurt was a good actor and I was horrified to see that he wasn't. It makes me wonder what other actors from years ago were really awful and I just didn't have the taste to notice at the time.

6. Sorry, it was eminently predictable and boring as hell....
I haven't seen a frightening "horror" film in years. The dreck that has passed for the genre in the last decade or so is pathetic. Jeepers-Creepers? Come on, what a joke. The Ring? Oooooh. I'm scairt!

I rented The Village because I REALLY wanted to see a new horror movie and I WAS horrified....at just how lousy it was. Suffice it to say, the love story was the best part.

9. Regardless of your opinion of the movie
This so-called review is just WRONG. That's my point here. I liked the movie, my husband called it "lame". I still think Sixth Sense was the best from Shymalan so far.

13. I didn't much care for the movie, but I DO like the concept behind it
If done properly, it could have made quite an intriguing story. But the acting (especially from the "elders") was just so blah and wooden, and the script was just bad.

I do like the whole idea as a story, but I don't like the way he did it.

17. The Village wasnt a horror movie
It was simply a drama - personally I think the whole thing was mis-marketed.

They should have just released it, no teasers no promos

19. That's exactly what my sister said
I haven't seen it but she said it wasn't too bad for a drama but was in no way a thriller.

10. I feel better now! I found the place to complain
Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 05:11 PM by Not_Giving_Up
I pointed out the stupid errors made by the reviewer, and suggested that movie reviewers should actually SEE the movie that they are writing about. I also suggested that Yahoo have someone check these things before they post them.

15. I Liked It
I caught the error in the review. I think the critic must have something against Shamalan to bash his movie so badly when he obviously hadn't even watched the whole thing. A reviewer compared Shamalan to Michael Jackson too. Huh? I don't get that analogy.

21. The problem was...
...I spent so much effort trying to figure out the "M. Night Shyamalan Twist™" that I ended up hating the reveal when it came.
