screenful of popups

Started using Firefox several weeks ago.
Once I got to trust it, I got rid of my (3) popup stopper programs.

Today I was trying to get into a website I haven't been to in a long time and Internet Explorer kept trying to launch itself.
Finally I thought OK, what the hell, and let the page load.
As soon as it did my screen began to BLOSSOM with popups at the speed of light.
Hundreds of them.
I finally just shut down and rebooted.

I sure do like Firefox.

you dont realize the work it does until you try to use IE again. mine's getting a little buggy, i think i may have screwed with it too much, but its still a hell of a lot better than anything else ive tried

2. It's the JavaScript methinks

Pop-ups, or pop-unders for that matter, usually need JavaScript to initialise. Switch off JavaScript and your pops...won't. If you use Internet Exploiter disable ActiveX too...bloody dangerous if left on. btw, Firefox doesn't use ActiveX, nor does Opera. ActiveX is the code used to d/load dialers, even the "drive by" variety where there is no prompt.
