6. Believe it or not I think the problem is looks.

I'm 36 but told by everyone that I look like I'm in my early 20s.

That means women my own age don't notice me or think I'm
for them and I went out once with a 19 year old and it was a
disaster.

Maybe I'm imagining it but I think it lies at the heart of the
problem.

I realized I should have made it an option.

Maybe it's my fault. If I go in with the assumption
that they will think I'm too young maybe I start to
act dejected and seem too young.

In this society, the woman still has to assume that if you were interested, you'd ask. If you wait to be asked, you are going to be high maintenance by definition, and it's already tough enough for women in this world without having to cater to a man who expects his thoughts read.
