1. 5 - 10 years.

Seriously. We're in a fucked up mess over there. Caused in large part by, well...us. Colin Powell had one thing right...he once made the remark about our being over there for a long time as "we broke it, we fix it". Iraq is broke...the infrastructure, the political system. We're going to have some troops over there as a "police force"...for between 5 - 10 years. No matter who's in the White House.

6. Exactly
Why build bases if we don't plan on sticking around?

8. We stick around because we are too stupid to figure out why they hate us
even when its painfully obvious. They hate us becuase we invade Muslim nations and we build bases and never leave. So lets keep doing it.

4. Many years regardless of which political party inhabits
the white house. Remember John Kerry did not express remorse at giving Bush the authority to go into Iraq. He said he was not happy with how Bush USED the authority (as if he really believed Bush was going to do anything else other than go to war).

Kerry also expressed a blood lust for war during the campaign with all his talk of KILLING the terrorists. Considering the US has done a good job of creating yet another generation of kids who will grow up to loath the US, there will be many potential terrorists for both parties to KILL.

5. But isn't everyone talking about an "exit strategy" now?
Or is that just to reduce the numbers, not to get us out?

10. About 8-10 years. It will be awhile. People have to realize, that even if
Kerry were President, the troops would still be there for years. Kerry's not stupid.

12. Why can't we just grant Iraq statehood and get it over with?
We would only be honest with ourselves, after all.

Whoops, forgot, honesty is beyond booooooo$h*.
