apologize to James Gardner --- you may have confused him with a repug politician with the same name -- but they are two different people. One is one of my all time favorite actors -- James Gardner --and his wife is a letter writer from way back, according to Mr. Gardner on a late night talk show I hear years and years ago.

"Intro-James Garner and the same ensemble cast that was introduced in Support Your Local Sheriff head up this western comedy for another successful film. This is not a sequel, as the well known character actors Jack Elam, Henry Jones, and Harry Morgan play different characters. The female lead this time is played with spunk by a very appealing Suzanne Pleshette (before her Bob Newhart series). Other cast members include Joan Blondell, John Dehner, Dub Taylor and Marie Windsor. The results of this comedy are the same as the first, a lot of laughs.

Story-Gigalo and con-artist Garner gets off the train in a mining town to avoid a marriage and to get a tattoo removed. He is mistaken for a gunfighter which Harry Morgan has sent away for, as he has a feud going with the other power boss of the town, John Dehner. Each are digging around the clock to reach the center of town, where the "motherlode" is thought to be. Garner ends up going along with their mistaken identity because of a weakness he has for the roulette wheel. Jack Elam once again becomes his sidekick imitating the legendary gunslinger they have hired. Suzanne Pleshette is the town girl longing to get out of town and back east to a finishing school, although she is quick tempered and shoots at everything in sight when mad. Memorable roles are played by Dub Taylor, as the town doctor, Ellen Corby as the sister of John Dehner and Joan Blondell as the saloon owner."

Part of that whole character was the fact you didn't know exactly WHAT to think of Murphy. In the old days most of the older people where I was didn't like to be known by their politics. That was considered private and their own business. Just meet your responsibilies, work hard, respect you elders and vote the man, not the party.

Favorite film? I can't pinpoint just one. "The Americanization of Emily", "Support Your Local Sheriff", "Sayanara", "Boys Night Out", "Murphy's Romance", "Maverick" (the movie)-what a treat it was to see him in that. Completely stole the movie from Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster.

James Garner's such a great actor he even made watching those frothy bedroom comedies with Doris Day bearable. In fact, he was the BEST thing about those comedies.

It's about time he's getting his due.

Television (WBTV) celebrates 50 years as the leader in television entertainment, Warner Home Video (WHV) is launching a year-long promotion featuring first-time-available and catalog DVD releases of WBTV hits. The studio-wide campaign will include DVD releases of series that date back to Maverick, one of WBTV's earliest series, continuing through to recent hits, and will feature special promotions for retailers and consumers.

Warner Bros. Television is the #1 supplier of scripted series programming with 1,700 television properties, including episodic series, telefilms and miniseries. WBTV supplies two or more shows to each of the six broadcast networks and produced 25 series on the primetime 2003-2004 schedule -- a record for the television industry.

Warner Home Video has been a market leader in DVD since the inception in 1997 and is the market share leader of TV on DVD.
