Do cats vomit when they cough up hairballs?
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 12:03 AM by Bleachers7
My girlfriends cat puked in multiple locations today. We also found a slimey hairball. Is it normal for cats to puke when they cough up hairballs? Thanks :puke:

1. coughing up hairballs IS puking
did you think the hair went down a different tract?

2. Yes. Very normal.
To help the cat out, use either a brush or--better--a Safari comb (Safari is the name of the manufacturer--do a Google to find an online vendor) at least three days a week. Also, give the cat a one-inch strip of Petromalt (found in most pet stores) according to the instructions on the label.

This will make for happier relations between people and cats, besides reducing the risk of intestinal obstruction due to a hairball. The latter isn't very likely, but simple brushing and lubrication go a long way toward preventing more serious problems with hairballs.
