I dreamt that I was on the Ohio river camping out and doing water sports with my family. We camped out on an island in the river. As a side note we can no longer do that because the Army Corps of Engineers bought the island and it is now considered private property. Anyway, I was out jet skiing and suddenly I could not control the jet ski. It would not steer and I was about a half mile downstream from the island. As luck would have it, though, I noticed that I was headed in the general vacinity of my step-father and cousin who were in a boat. My cousin was out in the water preparing to water ski. As I went by them I ditched the jet ski. I swam over to my cousin and told him the deal with the jet ski. While we were sitting there floating in the water and talking out in the middle of the river I bumped into something that was just underneath the surface of the water. Then up floated a corpse. Initially in the dream I was kind of freaked out, but not too badly. After a second or two of being frightened, I realized that the corpse had been tied up. The body was a male and was still in relatively good condition. I grabbed one of the ropes tying the body so it would not float away realizing that it needed to be recovered. That was the end of the dream.
I woke up in the middle of the night and I was seriously freaked. I never told anyone this when I was vacationing with my folks, but I was always kind of afraid when I was out in the deep water, say right before and after water skiing or wiping out on a jet ski, that I would bump somnething underneath the water.
That's not the most freaky part of the story, though. I realized this morning when I got out of bed that I recognized the corpse from my dream. It was a person who I had probably committed my worse misdeed against in real life. No, I didn't kill him, and it's nothing that would send me to jail, but it is something that will affect him for the rest of his life. I'm sorry I can't go into it here. If there is anything that would top the list of things I regret the most and would like to take back, it's what I did to that person.
