1. The Clintons aren't on our side.

2. the Clintons aren't perfect
but I'd rather have one of them in charge than anybody on the republican side of the fence. How 'bout you?

7. I would prefer selecting a President at random from a city
phone directory to the current administration.

I'm not being "goody two shoes" about the Clintons. I feel that their
personal ambitions don't include taking care of America's best interests. I think that the preferred that Bush won in 2004 in order to open the way for a run by Ms. Clinton. Like everyone else, all I can do is speculate based on inadequate information. (sort of like being a parent)

4. I totally agree...posted this because I know many
like him a lot, even though I disagree with much of his political philosophy (NAFTA, GATT, WTO etc)

However, seeing how crowds respond to him does make me smile. I just KNOW that Bush* would not garner similar crowds unless they were PAID.

8. My critical comment had nothing to do with the fact that Clinton
is a gifted politician. Rather, it was based on my view that he and his wife haver personal ambitions that don't include America's best interest.

5. I doubt whether any decent person could fight the system
I don't know a great deal about Clinton apart from listening to his autobiog'.

However, the power elite are so entrenched that meaningful change is made impossible; the system is just too powerful. The fact that the US could invade Iraq for bogus reasons, the voting scam, rolling back environmental legislation to allow drilling in sensitive areas, etc etc etc are all evidence of the power of the system.

Sure, someone might ascend to the presidency with good ideas and good intentions. Twenty or so years ago they might have stood a chance of effecting some meaningful changes. Today, the corporations are in control of everything, including what spin is put on the media and thus how people think.

I agree that Clinton had a number of flaws but no-one is now able to change the system by simply being president. He, or she, requires the corporations on their side, which is precisely why ** is getting what he wants. Anyone left of centre would quickly find ranks closing against them, stains on blue dresses and so on.

Sorry to be so pessimistic. My own view is that nothing will change until the corporations are brought to heel and that's not going to be easy to do...they have too much to lose.

9. MrG and I noticed that yesterday. If the camera adds ten pounds,
that man has got to weigh about 145 soaking wet. He looked happy and healthy though. He made Poppa Bush look literally like the pig he is. :hi:
