We were married 12 years ago today at the Little Historic Wedding Chapel in Elkton, Maryland.

The Princess has been part of my life for over 13 years now. And they've been the best years of my life.

My Mother and Father were married in Elkton,MD. in 1950. They eloped too, because Mom was only 15 when they married, and MD. didn't require proof of age.
Never heard either one of them mention the name of the place, but I wonder if it was the same one.

By the time my Dad passed away, they had been married for 51 years.

12. It Might Be The Same Place

Quickie marriages used to be quite an industry in towns like Elkton that were close to the border and easily accessible by highways. There wqere several wedding chapels in Elkton. The chapel where we got married had pictures in the vestibule of famous people who got married there - the only one I remember is Babe Ruth.

That night, we had one of the best meals ever at a seafood restaurant on the canal not far from Elkton.

I still have a matchbook from the place - let me go get it.

Found it. It's the Bayard House at 11 Bohemia Avenue in S. Chesapeake City, MD. 410-885-5040.

If they're still in business, I highly recommend them.
