3. Met Bob
I first met Bob in about 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa. He came to dedicate our new little league fields. He seemed bigger than life. My dad and I also got to go to lunch with him. Still have the pics somewhere. Best of luck.

4. Congrats!
How exciting! My mom is a huge fan of Bob Feller. I always try to buy her a book for Christmas that's not on her list, but I know she'll like and you just made my quest a little easier this year. My mom's college roommate had such a crush on him that she actually found his home in Cleveland and paid him a visit. For the record, he was very nice and signed a program for her. :)

7. Good luck!
I love baseball books. BTW, how did Bob Feller ever throw a baseball that fast?

10. damn good question
Highest confirmed Feller velocity was 98.6 MPH in 1946. That was taken with an Army machine that measured the speed of the ball as it crossed the plate. On a modern radar gun, that would be equivalent to about 102 MPH, since modern guns take the reading when the pitcher releases the ball.

8. Side note
When I was a kid my father met Bob and brought me home a baseball with all the teams names on it. Some friends was in my bed room and saw it and wanted it so I gave it to them. My father almost killed me but I had never cared for baseball so did not know what a find I had.I recall being in the dog house believe me. :nopity:

9. Excellent!
Congratulations.

I had a Bob Feller baseball game as a kid. You spun the dial to determine your "at bat". It was way before video games; just a board game. How cool that you've written about him.
