How the heck do you get a duvet cover on the comforter?
Edited on Mon Feb-07-05 12:15 PM by SW FL Dem
Since my dogs trashed my last comforter, I decided to go with a down comforter with a removable washable cotton duvet cover. I got the cover off with no problem and washed it. Getting the cover back on, however, wasn't an easy thing to do. I finally ended up pulling the corners of the duvet into the corners of the cover and pinning them there. Then I stuffed the rest of the comforter in and shook and pulled until I had something that resembled a comforter. Anybody have any suggestions to make the process easier?

2. You need an assistant
to hold the first two corners of the comforter and the duvet cover at the closed end of the cover. You then push and pull the remainder into place. Then you each take a corner of the closed end and give the whole thing a big shake.

3. I've never needed an asst. It's like putting a pillow cover on a pillow.
Just takes a bit more time.

First I stuff the comforter into the duvet bottom two corners, and smooth it along the edge at the bottom. Then I work up from there. When I get near the top, it's like putting a pillow cover on a pillow. I've never had much trouble with this. (Plenty of trouble with other things, but that's for another post.)

Housework, if you do it right, will kill you.

You could put the duvet, inside-out, at the bottom of the comforter.
Then you tuck the corners in and inch the cover over, turning it the right way around as you go along.
It is less complicated than it sounds and you have more control.
Lay the comforter on the bed before you start.
As another poster said, it is like putting a pillow case on a pillow.

7. Thanks, Unfortunately the cover doesn't open
all the way across the top. It has a button up opening that extends only half way across the top so I don't think it would be that easy to turn in inside out or inch it up. Your idea would work well with a cover that is open along the entire top.
