I wanted to seek his permission to present one of his pieces before the congregation of a non-profit organization. If I can't get ahold of he himself, then who should I seek the permission of...or should I worry about it at all?

is it a big thing, or just an essay? are you charging? i would think that just reading a piece, without profiting, would be fair use.
