No reflection on you; it just goes fast fast fast. You can practice on the other boards, but GD will always zoom. The one sure thing is the thread you start that finally catches on will be the one that you were dead sure would sink like a rock.

I was a thread-killer in any forum.

I went off and did a blog for awhile instead, as an outlet for my angst. Now I'm blogged out and back to the forums, but mostly I just lurk.

It isn't that I don't have any profound or amusing thoughts, but writing is just not my gift. Trying to translate thoughts in my head into written words is like trying to take dictation from somebody who talks way too fast--my mind races ahead of my fingers and it's distracting when I have to back up--I can't remember what I meant to say or how I meant to say it. It's a tedious chore, and I don't enjoy it at all.

Also, I worry that I'm not skillful enough to convey to readers my rolling eyes or the tongue that's usually in my cheek, and that someone will take something I've written all wrong and think I'm a complete idiot. So I'm very inhibited at writing--page fright, I guess.

Being the introverted sort, I don't usually interact with very many people, but I've been doing so much reading and research and learning that it seems like a waste to keep it all the info I've collected to myself and not try to pass it on somehow.

So I keep trying. On DU's forums, if I can answer a specific question or give additional information, I do, and if I can contribute a different perspective, I try. Sometimes I can't resist posting a silly thought that pops into my head. But I'm still a thread-killer.

Mostly, while I'm at DU, I'm just enjoying the fact that I'm not the only one who sees things the way I do. Out here in the Bible Belt, surrounded by hard-line right-wingers, it sure helps.
