20. A BIG disagree
It's the absolutely the most overrated show, followed by Desperate Housewives.

Friends was hilarious (not plausible, not true to life, just hilarious).

Raymond is depressing. The wife is bitchy, Ray is a whiny dumbass, the father is a cheap, selfish bastard, the mother is a passive-aggressive busy-body, and the kids cannot possibly be theirs. The only decent character is the brother. I get tense just watching the show for a few minutes. These people shouldn't even be in contact with one another much less living next door. I don't get it. Does it make some people feel better to watch a family that's even more dysfunctional than their own?

23. "Does it make some people feel better to watch a family that's even more
dysfunctional than their own?" The answer to that is yes. One of main reasons why we watch comedies and also tragedies is to have a glimpse of people in situations that we would never want to be placed in ourselves. Catharsis in a safe environment and all that.

37. Interesting
I can't stand either, and Raymond may actually be worse. I was referring to Friends as more overrated as it's much more mainstream and part of pop culture, whereas Raymond's success is still a mystery to me.

I liked that show, until it became "Everybody Stands Around and Shouts At Everybody Else." After two minutes of it I get a headache.

21. I do
The show makes me laugh every time. Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle are excellent. Its one of the only programs that is still watchable on the networks since the ascendancy of the truly awful "reality" shows.

Raymond's TV wife, Patricia Heaton, is quite the right-winger.

I don't have the love for him, either.

25. And Peter Boyle, Ray's dad, is quite the left-winger
What do we think of freepers who dismiss shows just because one of the actors is a progressive?

24. It makes me laugh, but I hate myself for it.
All the people except Robert are really disagreeable.

They do horrible things to each other.
Why do I watch? I have no idea. Maybe it's a train wreck thing. I can't look away.

29. Have never liked that show.
Husband and wife who constantly bicker, parents across the street always meddling, obligatory children, and stupid brother. I've seen bits of episodes, but I've never made it through an entire episode.

Seriously. There is nothing good on prime time network TV these days. I would rather watch Pokemon than anything being churned out by our shores these days.
