No matter how bad some days can be, I am glad to be alive. That gives me hope.

2. Since Dean is the apparent new DNC chair, YES!
I was disgusted with where the party had gone, but this might be the start of something new. I'm definitely hopeful.

7. Yes I do.
Dean at the head of the DNC should be a great start. Now we just have to make sure the BFEE doesn't supply any pilots to the DNC.

8. Last night
I took care of a woman who is on the fast track to dying of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). I watched her use what little strength she had to whisper over and over again to her newborn baby that she loved her.

Sure makes the rest of this shit feel pretty inconsequential.

But in answer to your question, yes, I have hope. I believe in humanities inherent good. Now, I've read history so I know how far we are going to go down before that goodness kicks in and many, many children will lose their parents and their own lives before that. That sucks and that makes me angry, but not hopeless.

It's weird, in both of these situations, I'm not exactly sure what to pray for, but I pray for whatever is best. It's the only thing I can do, prayerwise.

9. In the rest of the world
Yes, hope that they'll kick our ass. Figuratively. In the US? I don't know if this country will ever put the common good over greed.

11. Hope is all in your mind.
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 11:28 AM by Longgrain
Most days I'm cautiously hopeful. Today is one of them. There's always room for growth and change in your personal life and in the world situation.

12. Sure. It is still daybreak.
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 11:31 AM by goodhue
We stand looking out upon the new horizon of the 21st Century. It is still daybreak, the sun is about to come up like thunder. And it is our Democratic party, which has the opportunity to widen the bright horizon for all the people, to help people, particularly our youth, to become excited about participating in the process of citizenship, by fearlessly stepping into the crucible of change, by working for new initiatives which will win back people's faith in our government, faith in the political process, faith that their vote matters, and faith in each person's ability to make a difference. One person can make a difference. - Dennis J. Kucinich

13. Hope is the thing with feathers
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

14. Hey, the Holy Roman Empire didn't last...neither shall this. It may
suck for a long time, we may end up finding ourselves less than the Supreme, asskicking, super power we once were...but I'd be okay with that. :hi:

16. I'm naturally cynical and pessimistic, but I'm feeling optimistic
Most things are starting to go our way. I've finally got a stable job working for the state, after 5+ years uncertainty in the commercial web development field. My wife also has a decent job, and we're making more $$ than we have before-- and even saving some for retirement, too.

My health is good, as is my wife's, and both our cars run fine. My neighborhood is still friendly and safe. Our families are also doing alright, all things considered.

Yes, some things are bad, but there's so much more that is good. In Minnesota, we've got the Repubs on the run going into 2006-- which will be a MUCH bigger election for us than 2004 was. We're not only re-electing the awesome Sen. Mark Dayton, but also the entire state legislature and governor, too. The Repubs have trashed this state with their four years of benign neglect, and the state Dem party is on the rise.

I'm still pretty cynical about most things, but I'm very optimistic overall. There's still a lot to be done and I want to do my part.
