Can you take a life insurance policy out on someone without their knowledge? Don't worry this is on the up and up. Just wondering.

They have to at least sign a paper. Walmart was in toruble because they took policies out on employees, the employees had signed a waiveer saying Walmart could do so, but they did not really understand what they were signing.

3. Funny you should ask that. I have a client whose husband took out a

policy in her name and put himself down as sole beneficiary. She found out about it because the insurance company called to tell her that the policy had been approved and it was ready to be picked up.

Of course her husband lied when she asked him about it. She then tricked him into admitting it existed. Unfortunately, she doesn't know the name of the company in order to cancel it. And as you have guessed, until she cancels it, it's like having a contract taken out on your life. And yes, her husband is capable of doing such a thing.

Doing research in the Corpus Juris Secundum, there are jurisdictions that allow a policy to stand even if you didn't sign it (e.g., forgery of your signature).
