A Muslim Woman working in Border Control / Customs
...So we traveled what seemed like almost half a mile on moving sidewalks and corridors and all that to get to customs and immigration. A huge room with maybe 30 or 40 lanes to wait for your passport to be processed.

The place was empty and our plane only had about 25 people on it so you had your choice of agents just waiting. Most of the desks are unmanned, as they should be given the lack of incoming traffic. I scan down the desks and spot a Middle eastern-looking woman in a Muslim headscarf! Can you imagine if the U.S. had a Muslim woman grilling people about entry and stamping passports!? People in line would be on the phone to Tom Ridge to tell him the ‘the gosh danged terrorists have infiltrated border patrol!’

So I went to her. She was all business, asked me the 3 questions and stamped my book...

Can you guess what city or country I was entering?

4. Ding!
Toronto Canada indeed. I thought it was cool actually but I can imagine that it would be difficult for US Customs to have this person in a similar position due to the stereotyping.

7. I was country shopping
Really thinking about how it would be to live there. I have been many times in the last 6 years but not to Toronto. On the way into town, the radio (on the shuttle bus) announced that there was a national concert being televised that night for tsunami relief.

After the last 4 years here, Canada seems remarkably reasonable and sane.

6. Canada was my second guess too!
I'll have to go up north for a visit. I've never been there.
