LONDON (Reuters) - A British army pilot has been disciplined by senior officers for using a tank-busting helicopter to deliver a pizza to his girlfriend.

The pilot, based with 659 Army Air Corps squadron in Suffolk, was on a map-reading training drill when he dropped off the pizza to his girlfriend who was taking part in an exercise 30 miles (50 km) away.

The 25-year-old lieutenant had picked up the takeaway before setting out on the sortie in his Lynx helicopter, the Sun newspaper reported on Tuesday. He was reprimanded but did not have his pilot's licence taken away, the paper added.

8. Thats an interesting term.
Freedom Fighters.

What percentage of them are fighting for freedom, as opposed to fighting to restore the Baath party, and fighting to create a state based wholy on Sharia law.

While training that is not atypical. Hell, you are reading maps, you are taking off and landing, the crews all gotta work thru stuff - its TRAINING!

13. Not Dominos
They took over 2 hours to find the right house the other week, and ended up having to send a different driver with a new pizza after the first "aborted the mission"

With a record like that, they'd end up hitting Greece.

Hold the pork sausage as well, it causes collateral damage.

Now that I'm living up here outside of Ann Arbor (Domino's HQ), I've learned all about these bastards. They'll never get a phone call from me again. (Am currently looking for a blue-owned pizza delivery service, does anyone know of one, LOL?!)

12. If he had crashed: "I was JUST trying to deliver a pizza!" ...Billy Joel?
In case nobody picked up on that, the last time Billy Joel got in a car accident, he crashed into a brick wall and a witness said he got out of the car and claimed he was "JUST going to get a pizza!"

:P

17. Army helicopter pilots at Ft. Rucker Alabama during Vietnam ...
... used to fly up and down US-231 south of Dothan on Friday afternoons spotting cars of college girls headed for "PC" (Panama City, Florida). When they spied a likely car, they would fly a bit ahead of it and land the Huey. When the car load of girls came along, the Army pilots would flag them over and chat them up. Often, dates were made for the weekend and the Army pilots flew back to Ft. Rucker, signed out for the weekend, and headed for PC. A unique answer to the old question: "How do you meet girls?".

If a relationship resulted, the young college woman could then count on her dorm at, say, Auburn getting "beaten up" (buzzed) a couple of times a week by a very loud and very low Army helicopter.

I've...ahem...heard of Navy planes flying here to Maine (on training exercises of course) to load up on...ahem...lobsters. And perhaps these same planes flying to Puerto Rico on rum runs.

Or so I've heard. ;)

27. my dad was in the Army, and we once lived in an off-base . . .
housing development of about 30 military homes in upstate New York . . . about a half block from us lived the family of a helicopter pilot . . . it was not unusual to see him hovering over his back yard and dropping packages to his wife . . . whenever she needed diapers or whatever, he'd stop at the PX and just make the drop the next time he was airborne . . .
