Wanna see some freaky parents? Turn to Dr. Phil
Disclaimer: I abhor Dr. Phil, but this show is very interesting. The first parents on the show are forcing their son Barry to become Barry Manilow. What freaks! Tune in.

3. I'm in with the flu today...
I love these shows about parental fools who push their kids and brainwash the kids to believe that the parents' goals are really the kids'.

This Barry story is over the top...yet something tells me the parents in the next set will be even worse, because things usually get more extreme in these shows.

Just looking at the description of the show, and here's what's coming up: Parents do everything they can to insure that their daughter will be a child prodigy; parents insist their EIGHT-MONTH-OLD SON will become a professional athlete. :wtf:

6. YES! They met and married as a result of their participation in a Barry..
Manilow fan club. And they named their kid Barry when he was born.

True and utter freaks.

9. Jeeze, these parents won't IMMUNIZE their kid.
The mom and the baby sleep together; the husband stays on the couch.

11. The child is 22 months old, and they are teaching her...
gymnastics, Spanish, sign language, and the list goes on.

And they won't even let family members spend time with the kid because they are afraid they will sabotage the kid's diet! And the kid is a total VEGAN--at bottom five percent in height and weight because of her diet.

Christ, someone needs to save that child.

12. She's pregnant with another kid too.
Wait till the kid gets to the teen years. That should be quite an experience for the parents.

17. I think what's most troubling is that this hyper-competitiveness...
on the parents' part will cause the children to be socially ostracized.

Why can't the parents see that far ahead? The kid may have exceptional abilities, but her peers will see her as a freak.

18. A freak...just like the parents.
They remind me of the parents from "Parenthood" that do pretty much the same thing.

13. I'll admit to being pretty hands-on when my son was a newborn
...but this one is 22 months. And for goodness sake - co-sleeping is fine, but get a big enough bed so Dad can sleep there too!

16. I nursed my son later than most moms do...
Did you catch the dad saying that he wanted to get rigged up so that he could breast feed the baby too?

And the co-sleeping isn't a problem...it's just the whole cocktail of things that they are doing to her.

19. me too
on the nursing thing.

Yeah - I kept waiting for the dad to indicate in some way that he thought his wife was over the top, but he seemed to be buying it too. I had to turn it off...it was creeping me out.

But still really really weird.
