Idiots still found fault in Super Bowl halftime show: Californa Grass

Super Bowl Telecast Still Draws Protests

Despite complaints that Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show was bland and forgettable, the FCC received 33 complaints Monday from viewers who either objected to Paul McCartney's rendition of "Get Back," which contains a reference to "California grass," or were upset by the content of some commercials. Those who complained about the ads deprecated one for GoDaddy.com, featuring a young woman who almost bares a breast; ads for erectile dysfunction medication; and a scene in a spot featuring one member of the Queer Eye For the Straight Guy crew ogling a man.

Seriously - in 2006 this will be the halftime entertainment:

4. LOL
I'm 52 and I enjoyed seeing Sir Paul. However, my 11 year old couldn't believe they we're putting "that old guy" on. You can't please everyone, but my God, your predictions would lead to the lowest rated halftime show and the most complaints in history.

I told everyone in the room that some goddamned wingnut was going to have a problem with McCartney singing "Get Back". They thought I was joking too.

8. Some posted elsewhere that Lennon said Beatles "bigger than Jesus"
So, his songwriting partner should not have been selected to perform, as Lennon (they spelled it "Lenin") said this 35 years ago.

23. He was right........................
in that specific period of time, they were. It was taken out of context anyway, Lennon explained what he meant by the remark, but everyone seems to have forgotten that litle tidbit.

28. sigh..Lennon did say that, I have seen the videotape of it...
...and it was said as a sort of amazed joke, tongue in cheek and all. So obvious when you see the actual quote.

I was a little kid back then, but I recall how the righties of the day started burning piles of Beatles albums because of a joking, passing phrase. Radio stations had drives to gather them and burn them, too.

Not much has changed in Knee-Jerk Land. Yesterday the Beatles. Today the Dixie Chicks.

Since they were songwriting partners, obviously Paul felt the same, right? Right? Right?

That must be some sorta gay group or sumthin'!

And what's that loooooong rose in Joyce's hand all about? Looks awfully phallic to me, mister.

And that "Country Church"...hmph...what's that first syllable saying, huh? Sounds filthy and blasphemous, don't it? And just look where that hussy's hands are!

16. The FCC didn't realize what they were starting witn the JJ tit bullshit.
The fundies will never be happy until we revert to 50's programming of "Happy Days" and "Leave it to Beaver" and they probably wouldn't be happy then either. I am sure Fonzie would offend them and probably the "Beaver" (Pretty suggestive, eh?) would also.

18. Lol
Good. I thought McCartney was great, but I figured some people would whine. Maybe we can finally get to the point where they just stop that Super Bowl crap and show some good high school football games instead.
I love football, but I haven't been able to watch a Super Bowl in years. I only watched halftime this year because Paul was on.

30. Maybe I'm Amazed...
but why do some people think PMC was such a bad choice or did a boring half time show?

First of all, the man is over 60 years old and has talent, unlike the teen crap (like Britney, etc.) and the bling bling c-rap artists out there nowadays who can barely sing and need to have dancers around them.

Second of all, the Beatles are pretty much the top band of all time and PMC, as one of them, also has a considerable solo career.

Thirdly, if people my age or younger cannot recognize the songs, that bespeaks of the state of music appreciation and/or knowledge in the younger generations.

I can see how some people may not like Beatles or PMC music, but to say that he was a wrong choice, did a boring show or one can't simply recognize the songs truly amazes me.
