9 pizza deliveries tonight, and 7 dollars total in tips.
I must live in the CHEAPEST city in the entire country.

Two of the houses I delivered to tonight gave me NO TIP. Another one gave me 68 cents. Four more gave me rougly a dollar. The only place that gave me a decent tip ironically was a hotel room that I was really late getting to. Luckily I called ahead and said I would be late and would be giving them a coupon for a free side order as an apology. The guy really didn't seem to mind.

Anyone who has ever, or does deliver pizza notice that people in apartments tip better than people in rich neighbourhoods?? One of the no-tip houses was on a rich-ass street on the grounds of a golf course. This was my busiest night so far, and the amount of tips was APPALLING.

Oh yeah, and ask me anything.

1. Where do you live?
I always tip at least 3 bucks to the delivery guy.

Good mix of upper-class and working class here. Living costs are relatively cheap, so you'd expect that people would have extra money and want to tip more. But nooooooooo....

2. I always tip a dollar plus
as in I round up to two dollars above what I order. I know you depend on tips and thus make sure you get them. The people in apartments often know what it is like to struggle in the type of job you have.

I always give $3-4 bucks to the delivery person, depending on how much stuff he or she brings. :(

On edit - yes, what you say is true. All my friends who've made deliveries say that people in apts. tip better.

5. I've been an apartment dweller most of my life ...
... and I've always tipped well. When I knew I wouldn't be able to tip, I placed a carry-out order and picked it up myself.

7. Bleagh, you need to deliver to me.
Being a former bartender, I tend to overtip. I've never tipped a pizza delivery person less than 3.50

Pizza delivery lands 'copter pilot in trouble
(Filed: 08/02/2005)

An Army pilot has been disciplined after using a £3 million helicopter to deliver a pizza to his girlfriend.

The lieutenant stopped off in his Lynx chopper to deliver the takeaway during a training exercise, The Sun newspaper reported.

His landing in the Stanford area was cleared, but the delivery of the pizza was not, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today.

The 25-year-old Army Air Corps lieutenant pilot, based in Wattisham, Suffolk, was delivering the pizza to his girlfriend, an officer cadet.

9. I don't order out much, like my own pizza better, but when I have
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 10:48 PM by EC
unexpected company or am just tired I'll order out, but since I was a cocktail waitress at one time, I feel I have to tip as I would have liked to have gotten...for a pizza usually $4 or $5 bucks...and if I know the guy, a beer with the tip...

On edit: how much you get an hour? and do you use their cars or yours? Try not to carry change...

10. I normaly give $2.00 and change...
.. is that ok? I always wondered if I was tipping enough!

The rat-bastards that don't tip or are very bad tippers should get a visit from mr. key to the 'Rover, IMO.

.. or at the very least, call them on it. You are doing them a favor.

I think I read somewhere that there is a site on the web where wait people list cheap people or bad or non-tippers for all to see! The service you provide is similar to a wait-person, so you should get similar gratuity. Check it out. Nothing will ever come of you listing them but it should make you feel better.

Oh, one question. Are you in a red state or blue?

14. 2 and change is OK if you've got a 16-17 dollar order.
15 percent is customary, or the average. Usually if I'm ordering out, I figure out 15 percent of the order and then round up to the next dollar of the money I'll give him.

And I'm in a red state.

20. Something might come of it, if enough waitpeople begin to use it...
The people listed as non-tippers or bad tippers may get really slow service or waitpeople may refuse to take their order to them - pass it off to someone else...there are always ways with repeat offenders...

16. 2 dollars is awesome if you're ordering one pizza.
If you're ordering two (18 dollars or more), 3 dollars is good.

15. People who don't tip pizza delivery people SUCK!!!!
They SUCK POND SCUM!!!

TIP your pizza guy or gal for cripe's sake, it's a shitty job and they don't make enough. THey're usually working it because their other two jobs aren't enough to pay the bills.

Plus, you know what we say when the pizza person comes to the door?

"Hello, oooo those smell good, thanks! Here's the check and here's your tip, you DEFINITELY earned it and by the way, we're DEMOCRATS. We tip. We tip well. Remember that."

Something to that effect, only not as creepy as that. They usually smile and sometimes tell us they are Dems, too.

18. Well, I like this job, but it is my "second" job.
My other (first) job is one where I don't make any money (volunteer). It's a staff position on my local college football team. But I'm currently looking for a scholarship in it.

17. I got through college on tips, I can relate.
Sorry.

I drove through Farge 2 1/2 years ago. 51 degrees at 1pm in August. The thermometer never registered above that as I headed south out of the state.

Out here, 90% of people tip 12% or more. But it's a lot more expensive to live.

I just noticed your comment about the ppl on the golf course. We are also on a golf course, but the 'Luckys Chinese' guys get no less that 20% from me. I hope my neighbors are the same.

I've had some nights like yours, and they do make you re-evaluate your fellow man... sorry.
