What Great Lakes have you dipped your toes into??

I've done Superior, Michigan and Huron. I've also seen the other two, but didn't go into them. I don't think I'd want to swim in Lake Erie anyway.

3. Superior (U.S. side), Michigan (both sides and all over the place--

I grew up very near it), Huron (both sides), Erie(dipped toes in U.S. side and seen from road on Canadian Side) and Ontario (in boat on Canadian side and dipped toes in U.S. side). Some Vermont legislators consider Lake Champlain to be a Great Lake, and I've waded in that, too.

Also, Georgian Bay, Big Bay Denoc, Little Bay Denoc, Whitefish Bay, Grand Traverse Bay (East Bay) and Little Grand Traverse Bay.

My Dad loved to vacation in the Upper Peninsula, but I never managed to submerge myself.

One interesting result of Global Warming may be the ability to realize my lifelong dream of actually *swimming* in Lake Superior.

It wouldn't be worth it, of course.

Once you're in, it's not that bad. In certain areas during hot summers, it can even be warm.

The best time was running out of a 210-degree sauna and jumping into the lake in early april, with ice still floating in it. Talk about a crazy high! Getting out and back to the sauna was painful though.

What's the difference between a lake and an inland sea anyway?

Every time I fly into Chicago, I always think "that's no lake". Then again, you can swim across the lakes I'm familiar with (Poconos)

i grew up two miles from there, and swam in the lake almost daily every summer until i was 18 (i guess that could explain a lot). on calm days, we could see the bottom at 20 feet (according to my friend's fishfinder). not bad for how it was in the 70's (from what my parents have told me).

But I live in MI. I've swam in all of them too except Lake Superior. Only dipped my toes in a couple times and it was a little too cold for swimming whenever I've been there.
