thoughts and karma for my mom today... Radical mastectomy

12 weeks of chemo kicked her ass and she is going under today.. We are all nervous but I call her the old warhorse. I feel she will be ok.

I cant go to the hospital cause I got the flu.

So to whoever you pray to. I would be appreciated

to your old warhorse. I had a modified radical 22 years ago, and it worked 'cause I'm still here. I hope you can be there when she sees the results because that's the worst. But wounds heal and I will join everyone here in thinking good thoughts for your mom. Please keep us posted on how she's doing.

15. Thanks, I'm... ok. I still very much am in shock and some part of me

keeps insisting that no she's at home or school or exercise class or wherever she's supposed to be at the time I am thinking of her. And other times, the reality of it hits me very hard and I can't stop crying because she is gone. But there are times in between where I am more or less my normal self.. able to laugh at kids' antics or my husband's jokes. I'll be ok eventually. Life won't be the same without her, but it will be ok.

My mom had a radical way back in '64 and she's still around, in good health.

Your mom will come through this fine.

Although, her sense of womanhood, when she has time to reflect on it, may take a slight beating, which is natural for mastectomy patients, so be prepared to be supportive in that particular area.
