DOGS ARE NOT FRICKING ACCESSORIES
Am I the only one who finds it irritating that all these talentless anoeric starlets are now carrying tiny dogs around like they're a fricking handbag

I think I'm going to start toting around my cat Abbott. He'll eat itty bitty dogs for lunch.

This is not a bust on small dogs - but damnit, let them be dogs not accessories

12. Here is my rant about dogs
of any size. Why do people feel the need to take their dogs EVERYWHERE? Admittedly I am a cat person, and I do not feel the need to thrust my cat onto unsuspecting and unappreciative people.

Case in point, youth sporting events, why do people feel the need to bring their dogs? Invariably these people do not clean up after their pets, they bark incessantly and are a real pet peeve of mine.

She enjoys socializing and I like having her with me. I buy her expensive accessories, the best food possible and treat her like a little princess.

Little itty bitty dogs are in fact accessories and always have been. That's why they're lap dogs, and not working dogs.

49. Same Here
I have a weird habit of laying down with my legs crossed and up against me. (Sitting like a Sioux, but lying flat on my back.) So, when i'm on the couch, there's always the rest of the couch. He lays where my legs would be, but then puts his front paws and head on my calves. That's as close to being a lapdog as he can be, given that his "human" has MS and can't have that big thug on the legs.

I love my doggie!

47. lol yes, indeed, the work has been bred out of our dogs, hasn't it?
But, originally, the big galoot's great great great great relatives were trait specifically bred to work... now they're just oversized stuffed chairs that drool and eat and give us lub lub lub lub lub lub and amazing companionship... so I have the smaller models which are much easier to tote around. I love dogs so much; all shapes, models, sizes... none barred.

I had a beagle, a schnauser, a mix of those two, and a cocker spaniel in my past. Now i like the big boys! I can't see going down in size now, no matter what my wife says. (She wants a littler dog, so this is a point of contention. Nothing serious, but we're not in our usual lockstep on this one.)

50. that's perfect !!!
dogs are pack animals and when they live with people, people are their packs ...

i spend as much time with my dog as i possibly can which these days, is almost 24 hours a day ... she has tons of companionship, gets tons of love, gets tons of exercise and goes wherever i go ...

to those who don't like dogs around their children, leave the kids home ... just kidding ... well, sort of ... i agree that inconsiderate dog owners give the rest of us a bad name ...

but dogs are citizens too and should not be barred from most public places ... dogs and their owners need to be good citizens just like anyone else and there should be consequences when they are not ... but to restrict dogs and their owners or to criticize owners who provide happy and healthy lives for the pets is just plain wrong ...

Another rant, newlyweds who treat their dog like it's their baby...until the real baby comes along...and then they want to be done with the dog. My sister in law did this, and it hurts no end to see their Lab clamoring for the attention he once received so much of. :(

I just hope that they take good care of the dogs.:-(

And, on the other hand, I am owned by a nine-pound Brussels Griffon. My rare little guy is rescue, because he belonged to an older woman, who died. I called about a cocker spaniel that had already been placed, and I was told about him, since the guy who had him was threatening to euthanize him. That was over two years ago. And he is so small and needy that he is practically attached to my hip. In fact, he's sitting in the chair with me, as I type this. He was barking his head off, downstairs, missing me, so I just had to go get him. So I hope that nobody makes remarks like this about me.

64. Actually, I have two
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 09:46 AM by Rhiannon12866
I adopted him as a companion for my cocker spaniel, when my other cocker died, at age 18. And, since he'd been placed separately from his biological sister, who was the leader, after nine years together, he bonded immediately with my Sheena and looked to her for everything. And she was so good with him. I guess she liked being worshiped. But then she got sick, and we fought the good fight, but I eventually lost her, as well. That's the reason he's so attached to me. He actually preferred Sheena, but suddenly I was the only game in town. I have since adopted another second dog, Sara, and he looks to her for leadership. But it's not the same. All my guys are rescue, and I rescued my cat, myself. They all have such sad stories. It just rips my heart out.;(

As for dragging him all over town, this little guy must have always been taken, because he is just so good. I even took him once with me to the dentist! (She wanted to see him.) I didn't always take him, since he was fine with Sheena, but now it is tough, since when I walk out the door without him, he totally freaks out.

on edit: I was thinking I couldn't post pictures, since I'm not home, but I posted all of them, on another thread, a few days ago.
