12. I just saw that today
I wondered if anyone ever confused the two of us. I have an account at Kos, do they have PMs there? If so, I'll have to send her one and congratulate her on an excellent choice of names! :D

4. And I was there!! :-)
Yes, I was there when our own SusanG was crowned Queen of the Mardi Gras! It was a very cool moment...and, yes, there was a LOT of competition for the title in the bar! :-)

Congratulations again. I had a great time (yes, the next Karoke night, I WILL perform Rick Astley. :-)). Thanks for the lovely company and nice time.

 :toast:

6. which bar?
it's been so long since I've gone to Mardi Gras... at my last one, Cafe Lafitte In Exile was one of the hot places, and I think I also remember the Parade.

5. Link please.
And forgive me for asking, but if Susan was chosen to be the Queen in a Gay Bar (which bar was it BTW?).........

What does that make Michael's title? The mind boggles. Badger.

11. There is no link
As it was live at Scot's on Montrose. I even won $50 Scot Bucks to spend at my leisure. :D

Personally, I think it was because I sang Madonna for my first sond and Annie Lennox for my second, but who knows why they chose me? Maybe it was my flawless *drag* makeup?

22. I almost want to say the Chicago Free Press, Susan.
The CFP always has a few pages of pictures of people in bars around town. That's what I thought the photographer said. I can't be sure, though, since it was a bit loud. :-(

I was just making a Victor/Victoria reference. I wasn't even dressed up or anything. Just wearing the same plastic Mardi Gras beads as everyone else. :D

15. OOH OOH OOH OOH!!!
Question from a middle-aged, straight, provincial, perhaps even naive weineroid up here in Tanktown USA (still the Center of the Universe):
When you say "Queen of Mardi Gras," do you mean, like, the whole Mardi Gras (as in the big New Orleans party), or just Queen of this particular bar, or is it like a contest with playoffs or what?
I know that's probably more than one question, but what am I missing here? Oh, and my sincere congratulations in any case, susan.
John
Has got to get out more.

I do a mean Frank Sinatra ("That's Life," "Summer Wind," "Come Dance With Me") when karaokeing and some Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin, too.
I find singing a la Ol' Blue Eyes is more about attitude than voice. First, Sinatra always had a great band behind him (which makes it easier for the singer) and, two, he didn't really have that great a voice -- he was always more about the delivery.
I also find that it's easier to sell Frank when one is half in the bag and at the microphone with a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. A rumpled sport jacket helps, too.
