7. Lots of pellets at one time...
Shotguns expend their kinetic energy in a short range burst with a relatively wide pattern. Rifles, on the other hand, concentrate energy behind a small projectile for longer distances. Shot sizes range from smaller than .095 in diameter to 000 buck, which is a .36 caliber pellet. They're great for hunting and home defense.

12. apart from single rifled ball shot
one big lead slug but hopelessly inaccurate. Hardly used. Biggest shot in common use over here tends to be SSG. Smallest is "dust" shot which we call "Number 9".
