Does "FedEx Ground" mean...
my package will never see a plane? Christ it's never going to get there. San Diego to Illinois. It's been scanned in Phoenix.

Ugh.

17. No, ground is cheaper,
It is also for hazardous materials that by law cannot be shipped in a plane. It is also good for items that don't take pressure change well.

But it'll get there :-) Dontcha just love the real-time online tracking? I've worried myself to pieces over packages we send to the printer (I work in book publishing) that way :-) I have actually checked tracking while out on dates and in doctor's offices!

on edit: Hope I make sense now! :-) Lemme have that beer

9. Not Quite
Usually it travels by truck and/or rail the whole way.

Often, part of the trip is made by rail.

6. They bought RPS a few years ago
It usually takes about the same time as UPS ground.

I had to tell several of our suppliers to stop using FedEx ground after I witnessed our driver literally throw several crates of china around our parking lot one day. :grr:

7. FedEx Ground is UPS on the Cheap
The drivers are independent contractors (no benefits, no insurance) who have to buy their own trucks and pay for any losses. Is this a sucky country, or what?

13. Doubt that, all my FedEx Ground stuff comes in FedEx trucks...
and I find FedEx Ground to be MUCH MORE RELIABLE that UPS any day of the week. I had a package damaged in a FedEx ground shipment (one in 4 years) and the claim was paid in less than a week. Had a package LOST by UPS (one of many before I switched) and it took them 3 MONTHS to settle up.

8. It'll get there just fine.
25 years shipping US mail, UPS, Fedex, it always gets there just fine. You do run in to liars now and again who say it didn't, or parcels get stolen from the stoop, but 99.99999 it gets there just fine. Have a beer.

15. I ship A LOT of stuff, and FedEx Ground kicks UPS' ass
They are far cheaper, will take items UPS rejects (like the 1969 Fairlane rear window glass I shipped to California), and they get your stuff there in decent time and undamaged.

I shipped that glass from TN to CA in 4 days. Undamaged.

19. I prefer FedEx Ground to UPS Ground
We use it for business and have had better results. I work for a large law firm and we ship large paper files via Fed Ex ground all the time. I find it cheaper than UPS ground and a very good service. We have never lost a package or had one damaged.
