Happy birthday to Barbara Lewis and Carole King!
Soul diva Barbara Lewis (born in South Lyon, Michigan on Feb. 9, 1944) enjoyed a trio of big hits in 1963 and '65: "Hello Stranger," "Baby, I'm Yours," and "Make Me Your Baby."

Happy 61st, BL! :party::bounce::toast::yourock:

And singer/songwriter Carole King was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 9, 1942. In the early '60s, King and then-husband Gerry Goffin co-wrote many classics hits, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "The Loco-Motion," and "One Fine Day." King's hits as a performer included "It Might As Well Rain Until September," "It's Too Late," "I Feel The Earth Move," "Jazzman," and the chart-topping album, TAPESTRY.

Happy 63rd, Carole! :party::bounce::toast::yourock:

2. Those three songs of Barbara's...
...are better than the entire catalogs of some lesser artists.

You can have a great singer and a lousy song, or vice-versa, but in Barbara's case, she had it all: writing, production, performance...absolutely pristine and the stuff legends are made of.

5. As soon as I read "Barbara Lewis," "Baby I'm Yours" popped into my head
Hadn't thought of either for years. That's why I was always so good at the baby boomer edition of Trivial Pursuit: things that I don't even know I know pop into my head like that. :D
