Today the van Dys and I bought after all our bad car luck this winter threw a rod and died.

It'd be $3000 to fix it (that's about what the van itself cost).

Short of selling a major organ (anyone need a kidney?) I don't know how we'll ever pull ourselves out of this one.

We were sooo close to making it. Dys has been working, I've been working and doing an internship, and we had allllllllmost managed to get everything paid off and caught up.

Sometimes I really think there's someone out there who just does *not* want to see me get ahead.

Tucker

P.S. One week till I turn 32. Yay.

2. $3k?
you sure it is that much? When my engine dies, I just go to a junk yard and pull one out of a car totaled from the rear. Last time, I managed to get a nice engine with 40k miles on it installed for $800 total...cheaper than the repairs would have been.

Something to consider.

3. Hey, I got no car, and it's not breakin' my heart
I figure the $1000 a year that I would spend on a car (if I was lucky) can be used for cab rides and rental cars and I come out ahead. I hate cars anyway, I call them Weapons of Mass Destruction. Over 40,000 Americans die in them every year. If that is not mass destruction, what is?
Well, at least you are young and not all alone. So you are not doing too bad. One month until I turn 43, bleah, bleah, bleah.
