Gallagher gives up competing with younger rockers
OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has given up competing with other musicians because he believes it's time for someone else to dominate the charts.

The DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER songwriter, 37, feels he has reached his sell-by-date when it comes to creating popular music - and wants to now to focus on making albums that satisfy his creative needs.

Just like The Beatles gave way to Oasis, Oasis is now passing the torch to 24 year-old punk rockers.

5. Actually, Leo Gallagher has had remarkable staying power.
He still has a core following, and does something like 100 shows a year, and in some ways is still very young at heart.

2. "passing the torch to 24 year-old punk rockers"
I thought that happened in 1976 or so.

7. Oh no, not at all.
Oasis will continue to be a voice of our generation, while 24 year-old punk rockers will be the voice of the generation who is currently 24 years old (some have proposed calling that generation "gen y").

4. The Beattles gave way to Oasis?
Yeah - they broke up because they heard about those Gallagher boys being born and wanted to make way for them. :boring:

6. They did not break up because of them...
...but they did tip their hats to Oasis with a special message in one of their last two hit singles.

They are going back in time.

This happens every time they show a re-run of Larry King Live.

14. That's very altruistic of Noel.
He's going to give up trying to compete with the up-and-comers of the music industry, in order to let someone else "dominate the charts".
