I got a fifty year old penny
I know it isn't anything phenomenal, but I got it for change and was just looking at it. I wonder how many hands this thing has passed through in the last fifty years. Maybe it even passed thru bodies. It could have been part of the money that Buddy Holly used for gas while traveling around playing the early gigs. I might have even had this thrown into my Halloween sack 30 odd years ago. Who knows?
Yeah, I'm bored at work today.

1. I have one from 1918.
:wow: I found it when I was a teenager and it's still in an old jewelry box in my parent's house.

3. Yikes That's an old one
I have two one dollar bills I got a few years ago in change that are from the 30s. I have them in my dresser..I don't know why I kept them, but it seems strange to spend them. They might be worth $1.25 now. :)

8. I was thinking
It could have been some kids who got into their parents collection and spent them for candy or something. Or someone was hard up for a pack of smokes. They were together when I got the change.

5. I bought an old radio one time
And as I was poking around inside, I notice an old steel penny stuck on the speaker magnet. Makes you wonder how it got there:shrug:

6. You can track dollar bills...
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 01:15 PM by SnowGoose
with www.wheresgeorge.com - of course, it only works because bills have serial numbers.

I've had the same thoughts as you about the many hands and lives an object like a coin has passed through - though I hadn't really given much though to how many digestive systems they had gone through.

Big thanks for that mental picture!

7. You can still buy wheatbacks by the pound
They used to be pretty common, I've got a couple hundred put away, they are'nt worth much, but maybe in a hundred years one of my descendants will show up on their version of the road show with them.
