DU Group Proposal: Languages and Linguistics
Compared to the outside world, DU seems to have an inordinate number of language nerds. I'm definately one of them, so I though we all might like to have a party in the DU Groups section.

The Languages and Linguistics group will a place for discussion of foreign languages, language learning and linguistic studies, including linguistic history, generative phonology, semantics, philology and language creation. Of course, the group will be open to anyone interested in the science of linguistics, or those who just enjoy foreign languages.

Any takers? Any suggestions?

So far, the more scholarly groups haven't gotten very far, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

I was a linguistics major in college and can still bullshit with the best of them.

Two foreign languages, kinda... but my linguistics is limited to having read one Steven Pinker book ;) Still, I'd find it interesting, I think!

22. OK, we have enough. How's this sound for a mission statement?
It's basically what I posted in the OM

The Languages and Linguistics group is a place for discussion of foreign languages, language learning and linguistic studies, including linguistic history, generative phonology, semantics, philology and language creation. Of course, the group is open to anyone interested in the science of linguistics, or those who just enjoy foreign languages.
