Poll question: What's The Worst Thing To Hand Out To A Kid During Halloween?
I remember when I was a kid and I used to go out trick-or-treating I used to come home and empty all the candy and stuff out and make two piles.

One with the good candy, and one with the other stuff.

Tell me what's the worst of the other stuff....

43. Lewis Black on candy corn
"Candy corn is the only candy in the history of America that's never been advertised, and there's a reason for that. All the candy corn that was ever made was made in 1911. And every year the candy corn company goes around to all the dumpsters in America - because nobody eats the stuff - and collects up the candy corn.

I remember when I was a kid my mother said to me, 'Here, Lewis, this is candy corn. It's corn that tastes like candy.' (nibbles) It tastes like crap! And every year I, like an Alzheimers' patient, find myself in a room, and in that room is a table. And on that table is a bowl of candy corn. And I think to myself, 'Candy corn. Corn that tastes like candy..(nibbles)..SON OF A BITCH!'"

4. Stale walmart popcorn balls...
C'mon, peeps, splurge and buy candy bars--big ones.

Hardly anyone trick-or-treats anymore, so go the extra mile for the kiddos whose parents still take their kids out on Halloween and give them a good goodie.

(And make sure you buy Butterfingers, because I will help my son consume his haul ;-) )

that consists of flavored popcorn held together in a ball and it tastes like some form of glue is what is holding the popcorn together in a ball. If I'm not mistaken, they come in all sorts of terrible flavors even cherry and lime.

I don't know where you live, but they are up and down my street by the vanload! Last year I bought 10, that's 10, bags of candy... the good stuff, the candy bars (not the big ones but still), and on my way home from school at 7pm, my partner called and told me to pick up some more, because he was on his last bag. I bought another 5 bags, and they were gone by 9pm. We had to turn off the lights and turn off all the cool stuff on the lawn. Tradition still alive here in New England!

49. I live near the border of Hartford (a poor crumbling city) and
West Hartford (an affluent thriving suburb), and so wary parents over the line in Hartford bring their kids over the line to trick-or-treat in W Hartford because they perceive it as safer. Additionally, I go a little nuts with the decorating, so people who see the house before Halloween often anticipate good loot at our house on Halloween.

Ewwwwww. By far, easily, objectively, always the worst possible thing I could get for halloween. Even worse than those things that weren't candy, like pencils and pennies and stuff.

He "gives out" Sugar Daddys. Those caramel suckers that about three people under the age of 32 have even heard of.

Actually, he doesn't give them out. My folks live in a really inaccessible location, and maybe four kids come to their house to trick or treat. Maybe. One year they didn't get any.

So he figures, if he's going to be stuck with all of this candy, at least he should get something he likes.

Guy in my neighborhood grew ten acres of onions every year. Gave 'em out as Halloween treats. Everyone went to his house because he also gave out full-size Snickers bars.

The dentist gave out toothbrushes--I think they have to if they want to keep their American Dental Association membership. Worse, the dentist liked to hole up in other people's houses on Halloween, so you never knew where he'd be.

There's a family in our neighborhood that hands out beer. Not to the kiddies though, but to the moms and dads out with the kids.
Seriously though, there's still people who give out apples sometimes and usually they end up discarded. I've heard of a dentist in the neighborhood near mine who gives out toothbrushes. Good in theory, but not fun for the kids.

When I was about five I remember trick or treating at one house where a man who didn't speak English answered the door. He looked at us and started to talk to his wife in another language. Then he motioned us to stay, walked away for a second, and came back with a pack of saltines. He opened it and threw a few in each of our bags.

I assume Halloween was new for him. Guess it's the thought that counts.

83. hard candy
I don't like hard candy and never have. I don't care if it was peppermints or suckers or those cinamon thingy's...I don't like hard candy.

I loved getting popcorn balls and the circus peanuts though. Chocolate was best!
