E-mail CNN about Jeff Gannon!
"Daybreak" wants to hear from you on this case! They want to know what credentials journalists should have to gain access to the White House and how large a news organization they should be required to work for. They appear to be identifying with this poor guy, because he received threats, since they're "fellow journalists." Yikes!

1. We don't know if he got threats. All we have is his word. lol
At very least, I don't think his credentials should be posted to porn sites in his birthday suit.

2. That's true. I saw part of his heartbreaking interview with Wolf Blitzer
And I agree about his credentials, LOL! I just had to post this, since they sounded so concerned on his behalf! Maybe one of us should e-mail them that photo!

3. We all should mail it! Because you have to know they already
have it!

That's the creepiest thing. They're pretending they don't know what a sleeze he is, and reading their "empathetic" scripts. I couldn't do that job. I'd start yelling at the camera: "Hey, how many pornographers do YOU think are in the Press Corps?!"

lol

6. I couldn't do it either, unless I was Keith Olbermann
Do you really think they're pretending, or really believe that he's a victim of a "left wing internet conspiracy?" You know, if you repeat the same lies often enough, you've got to start believing them!

I almost always watch Aaron, but missed this last night, dammit all! Apparently his show didn't soft-pedal this story like Blitzer's did. I always suspected that old Aaron might be a closet liberal, ever since the time, ages ago, when he forced Al Franken to come out and call George Bush* a liar on his show!:D

Here's the clip:

11.  I saw it. Aaron did pretty well although in the beginning he
began to frame it as a poor victim's story. He quickly let his lefty guests take the floor.

(And I'm sure they've been passing the beefcake all day.)

4. Done. My email...
Please stop repeating that Gannon has received threats. After all, as a "news" organization you should do a little fact checking before you give Gannon a platform to make "convenient" claims. Gannon has not presented any proof that he has 'received threats while going to church from liberals...' Or that his "family" has received threats. How do you know he even has a family. Did you check? Gannon is a proven liar (the false claims he attributed to Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid are an example). Yet CNN gives him a platform on the nightly news to make unproven claims.

As far as what credentials..... Give me another break. Gannon (not even his real name) was a BLOGGER. Not a newsman. It's really silly and disingenuous for you to even present this as a question.

It looked like the mail was so negative that they cut it short. Only a guess. But, like Aaron, the plainspeaking in the email isn't something they are used to reading in Happy World.

14. That was the sense that I got, from what I saw
And from the attitude with which they presented this story, and what is usually a routine request for e-mail. One thing that I think is particularly true, is that it's the morning, not a time for much hard news or controversy. If you notice, they're all that way on all of the morning shows. They're all so unrelentingly cheerful. Aaron can get away with a lot more, at 10pm, and often does. I look for it.

I didn't mean to abandon my thread. My computer froze up. And I missed out on sending my e-mail.:evilfrown:

The Wolf Blitzer interview with aka Gannon was a joke, but I am so sorry I missed this interview on last night's "Newsnight." I just posted the clip, but here it is, again:

25. You're welcome. I was finally able to watch the entire thing
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:31 PM by Rhiannon12866
All I say is kudos to Aaron Brown and "Newsnight." This would have turned out so much differently on almost any other news show. He could have cut them off, or argued the opposite viewpoint. He made the obligatory mainstream statement, then just let them have their say. I was impressed. And the fact that it was two liberals, both essentially coming from the same place, is extremely unusual. The tendency, if liberals are given a national forum at all, is to have a second guest to present the conservative viewpoint, who is allowed to shoot down whatever the "left-wing nut job" has to say, and given the last word, as if to say "and that is the real story." This didn't happen here.:-)

Maybe they're realizing that this is one story that they can't possibly manage to "spin." Maybe this is progress. And maybe we should all also e-mail Aaron Brown and "Newsnight" to send a positive comment, for once. We have to support the good reporting, as well as criticize the bad. We have to let them know that we're out here, watching, and that we appreciate being told the truth.
:yourock:

on edit: CNN form to send your e-mail comments to "Newsnight." I have, before, and there's a box to check, saying if your comment is positive or negative. They have to appreciate the positive comments, and we have to let them know that we support honest reporting.

10. Mine
I would prefer that a journlist's credentials not be posted to porn sites in their birthday suits.

I would also prefer for the news organization to be more than one click away from gambling or sex sites such as Poker Babes, which is a click away from "Talon News".

As for threats, do we know Mr. Gannon was threatened? All we have is his word which doesn't seem to bear inspection.

15. I sure like yours, but I'd be willing to bet it didn't get read on the air
But we still need to send these, regardless, to let them know that we're aware of the truth behind these stories, to force them into telling it!:-(

I didn't get to send mine. My computer froze up. I didn't mean to abandon my post.

I intended to be much more cagey in mine, to see if I could slip it past them. I was going to point out that this guy is far from a "fellow journalist," but actually an internet blogger and how could the White House justify the lapse in security by letting someone into the press briefings who they must have known was using a pseudonym, because he would have had to provide his social security number to obtain even the day pass. Also, they should be asking how someone could be allowed into a White House press briefing, which should be held to a higher standard, when his credentials were not accepted by Congress.

Think they would have seen through me? I liked yours. And maybe we all should have sent them the picture, to let them know that they're not fooling everybody.:evilfrown:

18. I was the one who conked out, LOL!
My computer froze up and it took me two hours to get it going, again, too late for "Daybreak." So I never even got to send my e-mail. *sigh*:evilfrown:

The thing is, we're in such an untenable position. Which approach should we take? Should we try to slip past their radar, or give them the plain, unvarnished truth, and probably be dismissed as left-wing nut jobs? I guess we had best continue to try both approaches, just as long as we're letting them know that we're still out here, and paying attention.

Here's to honest opinion, and to an amusing morning! I'm thinking that that cranky guy, on "American Morning," might read the likes of what we send. I've listened to those he's read, and he dismisses them, but he still reads them.:toast:

Thanks, Beth

23. I agree. We know that they read them, whether or not it's on camera
We have to hit them from both directions, just to counter the conservative spin and the messages that they judge to be "safe" enough to read on the air.

Thanks for supporting my thread. I just heard what they were saying about a "fellow journalist" and couldn't let that go unchallenged. And I knew I could depend on DU to back me up, LOL!

It was also still "last night" to me. And it helped me not to lose it, as well. I'd love to do this again. I'm sure that we'll have many other opportunities. It already appears that this story has legs. And there are so many, just like it, out there. So much RW spin, so little time.*sigh*:evilfrown:

30. Keith Olbermann showed a whole series of clips of him saying
The most outlandish things, like the Democrats being "divorced from reality" and how John Kerry would be "the first gay president." I mean, we get upset about people not being called on things, but these were too outrageous for words. Keith showed all these, but I have yet to see the BVD shot, even on his show.

Was it "Daybreak," who questioned if these were even the same two guys that were being talked about? All they have to do is compare the photos!

Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 05:05 AM by Zuni
To investigate the fact he was given CIA files and info about Valerie Plame.

I think an investigation into how a man who operates a gay porn ring (and possible escort service), uses false identities, works for a tiny 'news' organization run by people who work for the Texas Republicans and has no journalism credentials was in the WH Press Corps is appropriate. But the real investigation should center on his escort services and his recieving CIA materials. That is really disturbing

If they are pose as a Conservative, who should be offended too. Why would the White House give CIA Classified information to a man who ran a gay escort service?

If they voted against Gonzales, they'll be in favor of this. As for my Freeper congressman, he must be so sick of hearing from me, LOL! But he does support many things I contact him about, like the environment and animal protection legislation. And I just can't imagine anyone in Congress, of any stripe, coming out in defense of this guy, once the facts are generally known, can you? LOL!:D

Plus, it was Congress who originally refused him the press credentials, so he had to resort to the day pass. I can't imagine he has friends there, and I'd think they'd be pretty angry that their judgment was overruled.
