Radio Station Giving Away Free Divorce For Valentine's Day
<snip>

Just in time for Valentine's Day, a Syracuse radio station is giving away a free divorce.

K-Rock (100.9) started the contest Monday on its program "That Damn Morning Show" and received about 50 entries by Wednesday afternoon, Program Director Scott Petibone said.

"Most of the reasons we're getting are pretty vicious," said Petibone, who said the station's listeners tend to be in their 20s and 30s.

The station is working with lawyer Brad S. Margolis, who has offices in Fayetteville, Utica and Watertown. A divorce without custody issues, where both husband and wife want to split and agree on how to divide their assets, costs at least $1,390 - about $1,000 in legal fees and $390 in state filing costs.

If the contest strikes you as tasteless, the rector at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception agrees.

"A divorce is a death, the death of a dream," the Rev. Joseph Champlin said. "You wouldn't make a joke out of someone who died, would you?"

2. Just as long as everyone remembers that it's gay people's fault...
that marriage is "in danger".

Sarcasm off, but goddammit, I'm tired of reading about stupid shit like this and then being told that I can't marry because it would be a "thread to the sanctity of marriage".

unemployment, war etc Tshirt. I think we should all get them. :hi:

So many of us don't realize how lucky we are. Someday, Terry, someday...I promise!

4. I don't like being angry about stuff like this, Mrs. G. But...
even as we speak, the "Marriage Protection Amendment" is on the fast track for a vote in the Senate. And once again, we are being demonized. Once again, to satisfy some nasty homophobes in this country, we are being scapegoated.

When we have a culture where marriage is trivialized...quickie marriages and divorces by talentless pop stars...reality shows such as "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" and now ghastly stuff like "Wife Swap"...and now reading about radio stations handing out free divorces...it makes me furious that the only "solution" to some people is banning gay and lesbian people from being able to legally marry. I'm tired of it.

Sorry, sweetie. I didn't want to get into a rant here.

Thanks for listening. :-)

:hi:

6. Dammit, Hedges...where why didn't we enter?

(Then again, a Wisconsin divorce in which there are no children and no disputed issues and no lawyers costs less than $200.)
