I Love "Old Spice", "Bay Rum", "Brut", and "Aqua-Velva"
... go ahead and flame me if you want. I don't care.

The oldies and the traditional scents are the best. Except for English Leather... that's one oldie that needs to go away.

Designer fragrances are over-hyped and over-priced and over-used. Sweet Jeebus are they over-used! If these people realized how overpowering their colognes were, I'm sure they wouldn't use quite as much.

4. I Thought Bay Rum Went Back Further Than The 1950's...
... even as far back as the 1800's.

But you're right. It is COOL!

I don't use Vitalis, though. Not enough hair for that bit of coolness.)

2. Yes indeed..
it's practically stomach-turning, the way some people douse themselves in cologne...rule of thumb: if you can smell your own cologne, you're wearing too much.

14. Thanks For The Kind Words...
... I recall my grandfather wearing Old Spice. He also used a bristle-brush and soap-mug to lather up. He used a double-edged "safety razor". --- I don't think I could shave like that.

My grandfather drenches himself in English Leather before going anywere, and my grandmother never goes a day without her Chantilly.

29. British Sterling! That was the good one!
Never cared for Hai Karate, Canoe, or any of the others (occasionally Brut). But when I was going out with a high school girl I really really really wanted to think well of me, it was British Sterling!!! And the bottle was cool too!

19. Mine smelled like Avon Old Country
I remember the collectible decanter bottles it came in. They always looked like some sort of vehicle, and they were different every year.

Get him one of those at Christmas, one at Father's Day and he was good all year.

Bay Rum and aqua-velva. A splash of either is great for when I'm wearing the seersuckers. Don't forget the bryllcreme.

21. You're my kind of man, arwalden.
Unfortunately I'm female.

I used to wear Brut and Old Spice when I was much younger. I used Aqua-Velva and Mennen on my legs after shaving.

You've brought back memories. Maybe I'll have to to out and find some of the old stuff. :)

24. I drank
Aqua Velva and Old Spice in my alcoholic days.
You need a good mixer with them cos they rot your gut, eyes and intestines. (Mind you I only drank them in extreme emergencies to get me to the Liquor store)
I smelt good though. :=)

26. eeeeeuuuwwww
gross. Nothing worse than cheap cologne on either gender. :puke:

Brut is the male equvalent of Tabu - which is nasty, cloying stuff. I can get a migraine just thinking about these disgusting smells.

The best cologne is real guy smell.

27. WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST UPON WEARING THIS STUFF???!?!
Sorry to yell. Those of you who know me well know I rarely do it.

Some of us are drastically sensitive to perfumes and colognes. I can't go in some department stores because the perfume counter makes the entire place uninhabitable. I've had to leave elevators because somebody gets on loaded up with stinkum. Perfumes and colognes are banned in many workplaces.

30. I'm a Drakkar guy
That is, when I bother with cologne. Doesn't happen often, but Drakkar turns my g/f into a clothes-ripping nympho, so that's pretty much my sole motivation for wearing any.

40. Well.....Aqua Velva.....(yes, I would never reveal this anywhere else) is
to "die for." I'm a hetero-female.....but I would do any thing for an "Aqua Velva" man. But....I would never ever say that in any place except here.

My old....love....that got away...wore it.....Sad.....brings back memories. But, no one really uses it anymore.

But, if I smelled it walking down a crowded street.....I wouldn't let up until I found out WHO it was....that wore it!

Thinking it might be my old lost love in the shadows of time.....walking by......
