Please enlighten me about magnetic bumper stickers!
I've been pondering this, and I can think of three ways it might work:

1. A magnetic sheet that can be cut to size, with one surface covered with an adhesive.

2. Same as #1, but without the adhesive (only the adhesive from the bumper sticker is used).

3. Same as #1, but with homemade designs.

Which is the standard? Is there some sort of glossy inkjet paper with an adhesive backing for this sort of purpose? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. 1) a magnetic sheet with adhesive on one side is what i've seen
then you can afix either an adhesive-backed or non-adhesive-backed design to it. One of our local candidates had large magnetic bumperstickers available during the last election and I noticed alot of people who would otherwise not stick a bumpersticker to their car were displaying them. I think they are an excellent idea.

2. I've used idea #2 before.
Works quite well. I put them on the trunk lid facing the rear. Never had one fall off. You can't really put them on the bumper, since most bumpers are plastic nowadays.

Idea #3 sounds interesting. But I'm not sure how to waterproof it.

3. They do make inkjet printer bumper sticker paper.
I have a pack of it here somewhere in my packrat pile. Pretty sure they're IBM brand. Haven't used them yet, so I can't testify to how waterproof they are.

I've tried putting regular bumper stickers on the magnetic sheets before, though, and if you're hanging them on a vertical surface, they really don't work all that well -- the magnets aren't all that strong. At least, the ones I had (made by International Paper) didn't. Get a brand recommendation from somebody here, because I certainly can't recommend the International Paper ones.

4. Where to get them?
Any suggestions? I figured office supply stores or craft stores. Where have some of you purchased the supplies?

5. Michael's-a craft store, or Joann fabrics-I've gotten magnetic sheets at
both places. Just stick your sticker on and cut around with an exacto knife. ;)

6. #2 is all I have ever used and I have used a lot
Stickers, Darwin fish, messages, ect. The sticky comes from the sticker, hence the name. In fact you can possibly pick up a bunch of free magnetic backing if you cruise by sign stores. They have lots of left overs from large scale commercial signs. They may be tossing it away or be willing to sell it cheap.
