1. LOL. Now I'm sorry... usually I can be sympathetic
to people suffering from anxiety... but c'mon! Who is this idiot that had a panic attack and had to go to the hospital because someone left them cookies??

Granted maybe they thought it was an enemy and they were trying to be poisoned but at the very least just throw the cookies away or don't pick them up... but go to the hospital?
THEN demand $930 from two teenage girls after you realize what they were doing? I have no sympathy for this idiot.

2. That Wanita (nice spelling) Young is such a blowhard
She waited an entire day to go to the ER because she thought she had a heart attack due to cookies? What a liar. If she really thought she was having a heart attack, she would have gone that night. So then she sues the girls for medical expenses AND pain and suffering. She clearly wanted someone else to pay for her idiocy and shame concerning the cookie scare....

3. The Youngs have a history of lawsuits, for and against.
<snip>
The Youngs are no strangers to court proceedings. In addition to the cookie lawsuit, records show the Youngs have sued or been sued at least nine times since 1991. Two more court actions have involved restraining orders.

Many of the suits filed by the Youngs were small claims. In 1994, Renea Young was granted a restraining order against one neighbor after they quarrelled over a shared driveway.

Another complaint was spurred by a July 4, 1997, accident in which the Youngs' pickup collided with a slow-moving hay-bale loader turning into a field as they attempted to pass it on a county road.

The case was settled out of court by an insurance company. Renea Young reported suffering neck, head and back injuries.

The Youngs have been sued by a bank, a credit company, a construction company, clients of his construction business and by one of his workers. The plaintiffs won in most instances.

Last Friday, the Ostergaards requested a temporary restraining order against Herbert Young to stop what they said were his harassing phone calls since the story broke.

5. When winning is losing eh?
"...It's horrible; nobody has heard our side," said Herb Young, adding the couple has had to hire a lawyer. "I don't believe the girls meant for this to happen. But they could have prevented it from happening if they had just shut their mouths when they came out of (small claims) court. Now they are caught in something they can't control..."

Sue and Sue and Sue again. I am older than the youngs and have never had to sue, nor have I been sued-and I come from a family with a surfeit of lawyers.

So this asshole wins and he thinks the young women should "shut their mouths when they came out of court"? I think we have heard the Young's side already. :eyes:

6. she needed medicine, not a day in court
From the second article:

A frightened Young said she spent the night at her sister's home, then went to the hospital the next morning because she was still shaking and had an upset stomach.

If she was still physically shaking several hours after hearing an unexpected knock on door, then I think it's safe to say that Wanita Young has some kind of anxiety disorder. In people who have such conditions, the body produces an unusually large adrenalin surge with little provocation. This is an extremely unpleasant thing to endure.

Whether Ms. Young seeks treatment for this problem is entirely up to her. But blaming her symptoms on the people who unwittingly triggered them is unfair to them, and won't ameliorate her condition any. I think that she'd have been better off seeking help from medicine, rather than from the law.
