1. As a Spaceman 3 fan, I can't better that
though I always chuckle when I think of the recently late Jim Cappaldi's Whale Meat Again.

14. That's another Traffic album, actually
"Shootout" was the one released right after "Low Spark", with pretty much the same lineup.

You may have confused them because the packaging on them was very similar. The LP version had two corners cut out, so that they looked a bit like a 2D rendition of a cube.

Both are excellent records, BTW.

28. Totally excellent!
Low Spark is great from begining to end.

Shootout has hightpoints and low points, but "(Sometimes I Feel So) Uninspired" has to be one of the greatest songs ever.

Traffic rocks, utterly.

10. late 80s drone rock
it's tough to make a comparison, but IMHO they remind me a lot of New York neo-classical composer Glen Brancha. Spacemen 3 were part of a late-80s/early 90s movement that was into layered, droning guitar tones, equally inspired by the Velvet Underground as by Kraut-Rock groups like Can and Kraftwerk.

IIRC Jason Spaceman later formed Spiritualised, which has actually had some indie chart success.

How've you been Gumbo? Everything's gong great here. Last live music I witnesses was Bob Dylan. I took you advice about seeing the legends while they're still alive. He makes a good case for lip-synching I must say. But he had a good band with him. I wish I had seen him years ago when he was in his prime.

46. I wish Dylan had been better.
When I saw him at jazzfest in 2003 he was on the top of his game. I have a double cd set of that show from the soundboard that I'll send you.

Still you have to see these guys when you get the chance; no telling how long they will be around.

47. Cool!
A friend has the reissued live concerts from '64 and '66 I believe. He was incredible back then. I'm surprised he sounded good in 2003. The last couple times I've seen him perform on tv (over the last 5 or 6 years) his voice was shot. He didn't sing so much as growl. At the live concert, I was wondering what language he was speaking.

51. There were 50,000 people at jazzfest to see him.
Plus, he loves New Orleans. He lives there part-time now. I think he was really pumped forthat show. I know what you mean about growling though. He can be impossible to understand sometimes.

I have the '64 Manchester England show where he did the first set acoustic and the second set electric on tape, but the tape quality is getting really bad. A friend of mine has virtually every Dylan show ever on digital tape now. He goes to just about every Dylan show that happens and records. When Dylan doesn't like the quality of his soundboard recordings he will call my friend and ask for copies of the show.

Literally, if there is any Dylan show ever that you want a copy of, I can get it, just tell me the date and place of the show.
