Why can't I stay connected to the internet?

I'm running Windows 98SE, and I get disconnected after 5-10 minutes.
Then it starts loading a page and I get that white page that says it can't load it. To get back on the internet, I need to reboot the system.

Firefox/Netscape/Opera, same thing.

I have cable internet, and they said it was fine from their end, my modem is working.

The rest of my computer is running fine.

I released/renewed all that, didn't do anything. Ran winsockfix, nothing.

Help?

Should/can I reinstall the lan card's driver, or reinstall Win98, or...?

Try running an anti-spyware program. Those cause a lot of problems.

If thing were running fine previously...and now this....I would always suspect critters.

There is a DU Forum for computer issues. I always visit to pick up new tips. There is also postings regarding great spyware fighters.

3. is it disconnecting when you email something?

my HANG UP WHEN FINISHED SENDING option stayed on after I used it once!
