and was not "allowed" to marry her when he wanted to. That really makes me mad too, because a "prince" does not have a lifetime of pinching pennies ahead of him as a young man, and he could have still "done his military service" as a married prince.

The powers that be decided that he could do better than Camilla, so they told him NO..
She was his first love and he probably still sees her as the "girl" she was all those years ago..he never stopped loving her and because he was forced to marry Diana, many lives were harmed..Hers most of all..

Had he been "allowed" to marry Camilla, Diana probably would have married someone who really loved her.. they might have had several kids and we would have never known about any of it...

he was always in love with Camilla and only married Diana because she met the criteria for the wife of the prince of wales, - primarily VIRGINAL and FERTILE and Diana married him without family or support who would tell her what it was really going to be like to the "princess of wales" ie: no personal life, no illusions of love (you are a royal) which means your life is NOT YOUR OWN. Diana's function was to produce heirs, PERIOD! ...which she did. She was acceptable as a wife but Charles loved Camilla warts and all for the last 30 years. I wish them the best.
