Who remembers "War Of The Worlds" narrated by Richard Burton?

This was not a movie.

I think I'm dating myself.

3. Now that's weird.
I didn't see that earlier. I was out with my wife and a friend and he brought up "WOTW" with Burton and I don't think I've thought about it in, maybe a decade!

It got me thinking. I've got it around here someplace, on vinyl. But we had had too many beers to search through the archives.

Strange that you posted that tonight!

6. Yes!
We were talking about that very thing earlier!

Tomorrow, I'm going through the vinyl and looking for it.

But, I think it's lost.

This new version on CD might be just the thing for a Saturday afternoon.

9. Hmmm...So my instant gratification tomorrow will be met with..
...a huge roadblock.

Nuts.

It's like when I tried to find Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence on DVD.

Not available in the states. PAL in Europe, some VHS in South America....gaaahhhhhhh..

10. Hit amazon
My first pass at them met with denial. But I placed another order 2 days ago and the discs showed up today. I have been trying to replace these discs for about a year and all of a sudden it went foomp. You may get lucky.

I'll give it my best shot tomorrow.

My wife has never heard it (she's a huge Burton fan, and she's English, go figure) and would love to walk in tomorrow with even a used copy from the re-cycle CD store.

I know that's probably out of the question, so I'll try Amazon next.

Thanks again...LinTx

13. Yep
There is a musical version made in the late 70s. Composed by Jeff Wayne and narated by Richard Burton. Its quite moving.

14. This is wholly different that the Welles verson.
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 12:53 AM by LibInTexas
It's kind of like Tommy in that it is more a aural thing, than a movie. It's kind of another version of what happened.

It takes place in England at the same time the NJ stuff was happening.

I guess you could say, inspired by Welles.

Am I on that, Az?

15. Yes, its a sort of rock operetta of the work
Burton takes on the narration and voice of the main character. The remix takes Jeff Wayne's work and hands it over to a bunch of techno artists and lets them do their thang to it.

The only disappointment on the remix album is the remix can't really do a good remix of Thunderchild as there isn't enough music to the original.

intersection with the mill and a pond across the road.
It is clogged with traffic during the rush hour....Martians wouldn't even think of landing there now!!
