ME, for one, of course keep at least one for a spare

and the others?

FOOTRESTS!

They tilt and they swivel.

Since most are discarded because they are just either too small for our new sized windows, or the visible part shrinks, still "work", - they HEAT.

Most take less electricity than a 100 watt light bulb would, so it makes a pretty cheap heater for us with them wimpy feet, but hate to wear shoes and socks all the time!

Drape a comfy towel over the top for comfort, don't worry , it won't burn.

OH - and a bonus!

On most, (not the ones that shut themselves off) if you turn the brightness way up, make an eerie glow - a night-light under ur 'puter desk/table if'n u will!

I have mine on its own breaker bar, so I don't have to bend over to turn it on and off -

THERE!

I may have saved the landfill sites a wee bit of our electronic waste.

:silly:

1. A heated footrest.
I'll have to recommend that to some people. Thanks for the idea.

(Laptop owner. I'll use a regular footstool.)

2. AND, what to do with an old computer?
.
.
.

If it's really junk, not worth selling

TAKE IT APART.

Inside the power supply, that's the box the power cord goes in, there is a fan, sometimes there are other fans in the computer too.

THEY ARE ALL 12 VOLT!

In other words, they will work great in your car for defrosting or just a fan, use them in an RV, and are REAL efficient for solar users - I have 4 on my woodstove (yup - they'll take the heat) and run them off of 2 20 watt solar panels, in conjuction with one ordinary 12V car battery.

They use approx .15 amps, or around 2 watts.

So yup - with full sunshine, 2 20 watt panels, (40 watts) would run TWENTY of these fans.

For comparison, one - ONE taillight in your car, one ordinary bulb(1156) in your camper/RV uses 2.1 amps, or 27 watts.

so - instead of sweating in ur camper/car, get some free fans, and by the way - they are mostly rated to last 50,000 hours!

For the dubious re my numbers

here's a link to the auto bulb specs

and one for the fans

3. So far, I've donated them to schools and small local charities and they
all had volunteer computer geeks who were able to use them, and were all glad to get them.
