I'm spoiled to DU now. No other site comes close. Let's hope it stays around forever. I mean even if some of our candidates gain power and fix things, we should still come here and discuss ideas. 24. I was an old timer, with over 4,000 posts.

I knew everyone and everyone knew me.

After a while it became an exercise in repeating myself. It became very provincial in a way.

In particular I got tired of reading the same anti-Democrat and the same anti-science threads that popped up over and over and over and over with clockwork regularity, usually started by the same people with the same agenda.

When I first came to DU, I didn't like it much, but I really didn't understand its structure or how to use it. Now I love this place, even though it has been necessary for the moderators here to reprimand a few times because of some bad habits I developed over there. DU's advantages are that the focus is broader, the rules are clearer, and the structure, which allows for more esoterically focused conversations, allows for a higher level of discourse in general.

The Lounge too is a great place to get a little silly and blow off some steam in a very tragic time. I love that its here.
