1. Somewhere in between
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 10:41 AM by Az
Occasional moments of comedic genius. Unfortunately packed in between colossal expanses of sheer boredom. If the movie had been compressed down to a half hour it would have been incredible.

3. I just couldn't get into it.
I tried. I really did, but after an hour I just gave up and went to bed. I thank God I have a coupon for a free pay-per-view, at least I only wasted time on it. :)

5. Don't expect a snappy laffer like "Office Space"
But this movie does have you laughing your ass off once you get in its weird vibe.

6. Wonderful, funny,uplifting movie
And one of the few movies that can be enjoyed by kids and adults, with no nudity, no real violence, no swearing.

9. That's right. There is no swearing in this movie.
But amazingly, you never notice this until it's pointed out to you!

11. The neighbors were suspicious because their kids were SO into it
The neighbors were suspicious because their kids were SO into it that they thought there MUST be a lot of naughty stuff - swearing, violence, whatever.

They were so amazed when I told them it had none of that and was just FUN.

8. Just by coincidence...
I watched it last night for the very first time.

And I thought it was great! Rent it. And if you like it as much as I do, then buy it. :-)

10. The guy who plays Napoleon should be nominated for an Oscar
Seriously. He plays such a total goofball freak, but he does it with incredible focus and sincerity, making the character very unique and memorable.

Even days after watching this movie, you find yourself laughing at things Napoleon says or does--even little things like an expression on his face in reaction to something someone says.

12. Watched last night
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 12:17 PM by petron
My wife and I watched it last night and we laughed our asses off. We are even quoting lines from it this morning!

"Whatever I feel like I wanna do...GOSH!!"

"Well...I have all your equipment in my locker, you should probably come and get it cuz I can't fit my numchucks in there anymore."

Funny, funny, funny.

on edit: corrected quotes

13. Mean-spirited, mostly unfunny, and overlong
Would have worked better as a mean-spirited, mostly unfunny ten-minute comedy skit.

Hey, that's just my take. :-)

14. I liked it--a lot. It is a slow-paced, sometimes disjointed story,...
but I think that's what makes it so much like a real life story.

I don't know about anybody else, but a lot of MY life is slow-paced and disjointed, peppered with occasional humor and glimpses of inspiration.

I don't need to see a cream pie in the face, or a football to the groin for something to be funny. And I don't need something to be a weepy melodrama for it to be moving---Napoleon Dynamite just is a damned good movie.

15. Definitely rent it, for sure.
It's slow-paced, and don't expect an in-your-face laugh riot like, say, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. But it gets funnier on repeated viewings. And I kinda like the way the plot and events are presented in an understated, minimalistic manner.

And Napoleon Dynamite is much more realistic than most celluloid geeks.

16. A suprisingly "feel-good" type of movie
You'll laugh, you'll cry but mostly you'll say "Huh?" I liked it very much.
