I still can't get over Nicole Kidman in it. She was not only amazingly beautiful but also both sang and acted flawlessly. Just astonishing.

They both(her and Ewan McGregor, although I'm very partial to him :loveya:) were amazing in it. They sang, acted, and looked gorgeous. :D

He was a little weak on the first few numbers but Come What May is unbelievable as was the later number where the Duke gets hit by the black man (I am unsure of the title but Roxanne was one of the songs).

His sence of rythum there was nothing short of flawless. You could set a metronome by him. Plus his tone fit perfectly what his character was feeling. Awesome.

19. My daughter convinced me to watch it a second time

and I ALMOST really liked it because after getting past the movie messing with the time-space continuum I was able to appreciate the music and costumes Nicole Kidman and Ewan MacGregor really were amazing.

Viewing it a third time might get me all the way to enjoying the actual story, but I'm not masochistic enough to try.

Do you hate that they use modern songs in a period musical? I know that bothered a lot of people. Do you hate musicals in general? The frenetic pace? The simple story line? I just got swept away in the spectacle of the whole thing. To me, it's an experience. Tear it apart and maybe the pieces aren't the best, but it comes together so beautifully.

I think it was the use of popular music in a musical; and cheesy picks to boot! Why didn't they just WRITE the songs? That's just tacky and lame. The film was visually breathtaking but the story seemed dumb to me, lots of musicals have dumb stories....but really great music. Oh well....

38. Well, I was just swept away by it. I wish I had seen it in the

theatre, but we did not see it until we rented it, then we watched it 5 times before it had to go back, which pretty much seals it.

We own it, and "Ballroom Dancing" and "Romeo & Juliet" as a boxed set.. The Red Curtain Trilogy...all Baz Luhermann (sp) movies.


I got a kick out of the juxtaposition of the songs and the period, and
was totally blown away by the singing !!!!!!
