Anyone else's parents use wearing a seatbelt as a form of punishment??
jdots' "I'm telling Mom" thread got me remembering.

When I was a child, we had one of those big Chevy Impalas. A '72 I think. Anyway, whenever we would get to pinching and kicking and biting and so forth, my father would yell,"Keep it up and you're putting your seatbelts on!".

Amazing how far we've come in road safety, eh? :hi:

1. I remember rolling around in the back of the family station wagon ...
wrestling with my little brother. We also used to put our sleeping bags back there on longer trips--just lay ourselves out and sleep.

How did we ever survive?

3. It was a different time. Disclaimer: My parents were very good
parents. I have no complaints. Many times I sat on my mom's lap during long car rides. That's what this thread was supposed to be about. :hi: Changing times.

4. No, because when I was a kid
cars didn't come with seat belts.

I remember when wearing a seatbelt became mandatory in Illinois, I think it was in 1984. Everyone bitched and moaned about it, but now it's an automatic thing with me. I always put mine on.

Mr. Wonderful is another story though. The only time he puts his on is when we use I-294, he's afraid the people in the toll booths will report him to the state police.
